XXX August 09 Where the hell are we?!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Where the hell are we? Well we are still here although we are in an enforced period of rest whilst Chunk is enjoying the sunny climates of Florida. However, we are busy learning some new songs to go in the set. Hopefully we will have that ready withiin the next 3 to 4 weeks. We are working bringing in some new and classic stuff which will hopefully get everyone dancing and singing along!
News on the gig front. We have a re-arranged date at the Railway Bell, Folkestone on Friday 17th August, followed by a gig at the Park Inn, Folkestone on the 18th August. We have also got a gig at The Archer, Dover on the 4th September which is really great as we have been trying to get in there for ages. Check out the gig list which will be updated shortly.
Thats all for now. More updates due at the weekend.

July 07 Dancing Girls To The Rescue!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Well what an interesting couple of weeks we have had. Having been through our period of recovery we took up the reins again and got back to what we do best - rocking the local establishments! We were asked to cover a cancellation at The Star in Ashford on 15th June, which we were quite happy to do, especially as its a pub we have been looking to get into for some time now. The night went really well and we have been asked to come back on the 14th July for their 3rd Charity event. We are well looking forward to this and will be looking to increase our fanbase with a solid set. Details have already been posted on another blog entry so check it out.
On 23rd June we returned to the Harbour Inn, Folkestone for the second time. Our first appearance there was good but this time it was that busy they had to stop people coming in! No dropped guitars or snapped strings this time either! We played a cracking 2.5hr set and had the place rocking from start to finish. We ended up playing way beyond midnight in fact and it was probably closer to 3hrs worth of material but worth every second of it. We have been rebooked there too, which is a right result. There were some familiar faces too, people that had seen us before and come along again, this time bringing some friends. In particular there are two ladies, whose names I do not know, one with blond hair (and a cracking figure to boot!!) and the other is dark haired. I will make a point of introducing myself I promise!! We took the opportunity to play some of the songs we had been rehearsing for Kery and Stuarts wedding too, including The Look by Roxette, which got some interesting looks when we started it. But then the jaws hit the floor as they realised just how heavy we had made it!!
Kery & Stuarts wedding took place on 30th June at the Hythe Imperial Hotel. We had a set of approx 15 songs that we intended to play. After the first 4 or 5 it was clear we had a game on our hands as the punters retired to the bar. But then we had a request for some Foo Fighters, which we did, and then ploughed on with some of the usual stuff we do. What a reaction we got too!! We packed the floor and everyone was dancing and had a great time.
And so on to this weekend. Last night we played the Jolly Frog again. I had popped in to the pub during the week and Andy had said he thought it might be a quiet one. I however did not! But I never expected the night to turn out like it did!!! We stormed through the first set and was getting a great reception from the crowd. The place was packed out, and we had some old faces come along to see us along with plenty of new ones too, which is always nice. So on we cracked into set 2.Now for whatever reason, and I still am not clear on this, we ended up with several ladies positioned right in front of the band.....with their tits out!! Chunk and I were somewhat taken aback by this and, in typical Turmoil fashion, started to forget what song we were playing as the wonderful mounds of titty flesh bounced up and down before us!! Outstanding, literally!! Chunk then felt the urge to get into the crowd whilst doing Killing In The Name Of, no doubt wishing for a repeat performance. Likewise, with my new wireless kit, I did the same during Dont Look Back In Anger. For my troubles I got hugs and kisses from a range of people, mostly blokes, in a show of true hetrosexual bonfing!! What a fucking great gig it was. Even Lewie, who was suffereing with a cold, was jumping, dancing and screaming for dear life, a sight to behold!!
So all is good at the moment. Tonight we play The Victoria in Cheriton, another place where we are starting to get a good following. If you can make it then pop down and join the fun. If not, check out the gig list and see if you can come along and enjoy any of the other gigs we have lined up this year.
Until the next time,
Keep Rockin'

X June 22 Where on earth have we been!!!!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Well first I have to apologise. Its been a ridiculous amount of time since I last came on here and gave an update on what we have been up to. So where to start? Well, we have played a couple of new venues, won some new fans, learnt some new songs too! Since my last entry on the 12 April, we have done 6 gigs, playing at some our favourite venues including The Happy Frenchman and Bar Brevet. The Gig at Bar Brevet was a special night because it was Carries 30th Birthday. Can you believe that gorgeous girl is 30! It was a great night and Carrie even got up to sing Mr Brightside with us, and she was brilliant! Even Keith got in on the act, adding backing vocals to a song I cant remember now!!
We also played The Harbour Inn, Folkestone, for the first time. Was a good gig although the crowd was not as energetic as we are used to seeing! Bec and Dave came along again although they had to leave early as Bec was taken ill. We had a visit from the usual nutters: Geoff, Vanessa, Taya, John, Laura, Ashley, Laura amonst others. I had a mad moment when, in the middle of Little By Little, my strings decided to snap!! When I reahced for the other guitar the strap fell off too!!! How crap! On the plus side, a friend of Andy Clee, Chris, came along for the first half with his son George, who is 10, and had never seen a live band before. He really wants to learn to play the guitar so I am gonna give him some lessons to get him started. Looking forward to getting this budding axe slinger on his way!!
We also got asked to stand in for Groove Junction at The Star, Ashford on Friday 15th June. We have been trying to get in there for ages so it was a good opportunity to show them what we were about. Although the crowd was not the biggest we went down well and had a good night. A BIG thanks to Lara from Dayfall for putting us in touch with Deb & Richard. We did two 13 song sets and then encored with Killing In The Name Of and Dont Look Back In Anger. Most entertaining moment of the night was George getting a mighty slap round the head through the open window behind him!
Deb & Richard were impressed enough to ask us to play at the Star Charity event on 14th July. The lineup has now been confirmed as follows:
The 3rd Star Charity Event
It plans to be a great day with all the bands giving their time for free. So do come along and join in the fun and help raise money for local charities. So what else have we been up to? Well, we have a wedding in a week or so, so we have been rehearsing for that. New songs we have had to learn include Rocks (Primal Scream), I Want To Break Free (Queen), The Look (Roxette), Live It Up (Mental As Anything) and Somewhere In My Heart (Aztec Camera). We have also managed to blast through Johnny Be Good, which sounds great and hopefully Chunk will let me sing! Some of these songs will get an airing at the next gig, which is tomorrow at The Harbour Inn, Folkestone. We also have a number of songs in the pipeline that we are working on to liven the set up. We are also starting to talk about doing one or two originals. So its all quite exciting!! Check the gig dates section for all the latest dates, there will also be some new photos uploaded soon as well as the move to our own proper website!! Woo Hoo!!! Take Care See You Soon Fatbloke X
April 12 Mange Tout!"!! Hello Cyberfans !!
I hope you are all keeping well! Our latest travels have taken us back to the Happy Frenchman and Aylesham Sports Club over the last weekend. By our own standards we thought we could have done a lot better on Saturday at The Happy Frenchman. Although everyone seemed to enjoy the night we felt collectively that our usual spark wasnt there. Admittidly, form a personal point of view at least, I was struggling with the chest infection I have had for the last few weeks. And lots of people came up and said they really enjoyed the night. But we know we can give so much more than we did. It was just one of those nights for us. We have tried a few new songs out that are still coming together and generally they wnet down really well. Nigel and Lorraine, who used to run the Firs Club Bar, came down and Nigel said he thought it was the best we have sounded. We certainly have come a long way since we played the Firs Club for the first time.
I guess he should have been in Aylesham on the Sunday! What a fucking night that was! The place was absoloutely heaving, so much so we had a tough time getting the gear in! I took the set back to basics and threw in stuff we have not played for a while too. But my god what a night. The first set was electric, with people singing along and some dancing too. It was obvious they were in the mood to party. When we got stuck into the second set, they went mental right from the start! No-one left the floor, not even in Comfortably Numb, which sounded the best we have ever played it. They could not get enough! We finished at 11.20pm and Carl asked if we would go back on and play until midnight and we didnt need asking twice. So we rolled out a few songs that we had not played and even repeated a couple we had! We finished at just after midnight and then Chunk got up and did a Levellers track for good measure! We all felt that it had probably been our best gig to date, especially considering that we're a new band out there and nobody really knows us! Carl was superb too, keeping us lubricated all night, which really helped me out with my throat!
So this week we go back to the Bar Brevet. The last gig was a bit quiet by our standards so hopefully this time we can pull more of our usual crowd. Only bummer is that John & Louis are playing down the Thistle & Shamrock so the Turmites are gonna be split between them and us! Sods law!! There are some more photos to come too, just have not had the time to add them yet. So check the photo section for all the latest and greatest shots of the band!

March 29 !! TURMOIL ROCK !!!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Time for another update on life on the road with TURMOIL. We have just come off the back of what has to have been to of our very best gigs, and that is saying a lot! Friday 23rd March we paid a visit to the Dublin Man O War, Dover for the very first time. We pulled a big crowd which included many friends and family of mine and Lewie. This was a nice touch for us as we dont often get the chance to meet our own as we play out of town so much. So a big thanks to Paula, Alan, Lewies Sister (sorry, didnt get your name!), Nobby, Jo, Mum, Rhianne, Wayne, Dave, Sarah, Darren and Bob for coming along. We seemed to go down really well and the locals were really receptive too. We also aired some new songs as well and they all got a good reception. Chunk had to dash off at the end to lube himself and George was working next day so could not hang around either. Lewie departed with the Wife so it was left to me to hold out and get mashed...so I did!!! Great night!!
Saturday 24th March we played The Mariner, Folkestone. We like playing there, usually get a good sound, and Nicky, the landlady, is really sweet. Its never easy to tell what sort of crowd you will get there, and the previous two times have been a bit hit and miss. But we were banking on there being a crowd as the England game was on. Courtesy of England being so crap there were a lot of people out drowning there sorrows, not least of all our mob. So the pub was invaded by the Turmites: Jimmy, Ange, Brenda, Jules, Elaine, Keith, Neil, Louis...loads of them! Some of them brough friends too, the place was packed to the rafters. We even had to shift tables to create a dancefloor. I had a couple of guests too, Vince, Chris (and Wife Wendy) who are from my old band. Madness ensued, with Jules and Louis po-going round the pub, it was fantastic!! I ended up shirtless at the end of the night, not a pleasant sight!!
All in all it was a top weekend. We dont have any gigs this weekend but we are out on the following weekend at The Happy Frenchman, Folkestone, on Saturday 7th April and Sports & Social Club, Aylesham on Sunday 8th. If you get the chance come along and say hi to the band. Until the next time,

X February 24 Another Venue conquered!!! Hello Turmites !!
Just a quick update on our latest gigging success. We gigged The Victoria, Cheriton, for the first time yesterday and had an absoloute whale of a time. We pulled a huge crowd and knocked them for six right from the get go. We also threw in 4 new songs (DOA-Foo Fighters, Lithium-Nirvana, Whistle For The Choir-The Fratellis and Cigarettes & Alcohol-Oasis) which all went down well. We had them dancing on tables, jumping about like loonies and dancing all over the pub! We are re-booked to go back in May, gig list to be updated asap. By which time we should have some more new songs in the set too. We have at least 4 more rehearsals before then and we are currently getting together approx 4-5 new songs in each one. So we are getting a really good variety of songs in now. Another bonus was the Heretics bike club were in attendance. I know one of them, Matt, from way back and he has asked if we would play at their bike festival in July. This is the breakthrough we have been looking for as this will widen our audience massively and hopefully lead to more bookings, especially at biker rallys which we are really keen to do. Getting in front of these types of crowds is a great opportunity to build your reputation up too. So it was all good. Absoloutely knackered today though, think I need to get down the gym and start working these pounds off!!!
Next gig is at Bar Brevet, Folkestone, which will hopefully be as good a night as the last two times we have been there. Check the gig list for the latest dates. Until the next time,

Friday 23rd February - The Victoria Hotel, Cheriton
Saturday 3rd March - Bar Brevet, Folkestone

Hope to see you at one of the above gigs, check the gig list on here to see other dates we have coming up....

X February 01 Fatblokes Big Announcement!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Just a short and sweet announcement to make. Today marked the arrival of the newest member of my family. Oliver Albert Clark was born at 8.48am on 1st February 2007 weighing a tiday 5lb14oz. Mum and Baby are doing well and were back home by tea-time! No hanging about then!
Although Karen had to be induced she did the whole thing with just a pethedin injection and was really brave. Oliver wasted no time getting down to business and was breast feeding within 20 minutes of being born. Clearlly he takes a leaf from the old mans book!!
Nothing doing on the band front for obvious reasons. Our next gig is at The Victoria, Cheriton om 23rd February. First time we have played there and we are really looking forward to it. Will be drumming up some new gigs too so keep a regular check on the gig list for all the newest dates.
There has been talk of going back to the studio to do some more songs and maybe some original stuff too. I would be really up for this depending on how much time and money we can afford! Watch this space. There will shortly be a CD available containing the 3 studios songs we previously recorded plus the live set recorded at Dock Rock 2006. Hopefully we will be recording one of our gigs in the near future and commiting that to CD too.
In the meantime, I trust you are all keeping well, hope to see you soon,

January 11 Better late than never!!Hope you had a great Xmas and here's to a great 2007! Sorry I have not updated the blog for a while. Lots going on in my little world and in the complex galaxy that is TURMOIL!!
!! Saturday 30th December !!
As hopefully some of you will know, TURMOIL had gigs over the New Year weekend. We gigged the Saturday night at The Mariner, Folkestone. Reasonable crowd considering it was the night before New Years Eve. We aired some new songs too including Monster, Chasing Cars, In The Morning, Bartender & The Thief, Learn To Fly plus we also threw in Wuthering Heights and Best of You which we have only gigged once or twice before. Song of the night though must have been Back For Good...yes, the song made famous by Take That! I have no shame and admit to a)liking it and b)knowing most of the words! It only came about because Lewie needed a comfort break and I could not think of anything else to play!! Best of it was that we managed to get some drunk females, along with Nikki the Landlady to sing it for us! Very interesting musical interlude!! Good night though and looking forward to going back there again.
!! NEW YEARS EVE !!
What a night this turned out to be in the end! I arrived at Georges with 42 songs at hand. One of my closest friends, Becky, came over too. She had never seen the band before so it was gonna be an interesting night for her! We all made our way to The Happy Frenchman for 7.30pm and got ready to set up. They have moved the bands back under the stairs, which I prefer. There was a sizeable crowd there when we got there which was a good start. Lewie also brought along his video cameras to record the evenings entertainment. We kicked off at 9.30pm with some slower, laid back stuff, just to ease the crowd in. The first set was ok, and the place was still filling up. But for the 2nd set we just unleashed the power of TURMOIL on the unsuspecting crowd...and some!! We had a whale of a time, the crowd got right behind us, singing along to pretty much everything we did. All the new stuff went down really well, especially Chasing Cars, which made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! I was pretty ill with a chest infection so I was drinking at my normal rate but I had enough inside me to encourage my alterego to come through! There were plenty of shape throwing antics going on, moving out in to the crowd at one point when we were doing I Predict A Riot. It was a fucking great night! Sharon re-booked us immediately for New Year 2007! We saw in the New Year and played on until gone 1pm. Chunk went on to a party and kept on partying! The legend that he is he managed to squeeze in 9 parties and didnt finish partying until the 3rd Jan!!! Fucking animal!!! I retired to Georges with Donna, Lewie and Bec. Bec and I went to bed at 3.30am totally shattered. And no stories to tell on that front either, shes one of my best mates and that will do thankyou very much!!! There were plenty of cameras about so hopefully we will have some pictures for you soon....
On a more personal note, Karen is close to popping now. She is due on 3rd Feb but if she makes it that far I will be surprised. She is getting all these funny movements now and she says she thinks its coming early. Karen came to the gig at The Mariner and the baby kicked like a bastard when we were doing Chasing Cars! The boy has taste! Keep an eye out here for the latest news.
LOOKING BACK ON 2006
Well, what a superb year 2006 was for TURMOIL. We have really started to build a reputation locally as one of the top covers bands around, played to thousands at Dock Rock, been interviewed on Radio Kent and have a lot of thanks and gratitude to offer to everyone that has supported us this last year. From the band we want to say thankyou to our families, friends and loyal band of Turmites
Keith, Brenda, Claire, Taya, Geoff, Carrie, Neil, Louis, Jules, Elaine, John, Laura, Ashley, Laura, Alan, Jill, Dan, Charlotte, Chris, Jo, Tammy, Karen, Paula, Donna, Liz, John, The Sicknotes, Georges Squash mates, The AVS Crew, the Shamrock & Thistle Open Mic crowd, Dave, Caroline, DJ, Rebecca, Bex, Nigel....god the list is endless!! You know who you are..if I have missed you then I apologise. Without you all there behind us it would not have been half as much fun!!
So heres to an even more successful 2007, starting off with tomorrows gig at The Firs Club, Cheriton. Come along and enjoy the fun, hope to see you there,

X December 01 Sweet Dreams are made of these!!! Hello Cyberfans !!
I trust that you are all keeping well. A week of highs and lows nears its end. Started on a high, going to see Motorhead at The Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone. Christ they are loud!! Lemmy didnt like the vocals much but sound out front was phenomenal! I attended this evening of havoc with Chunk, John and my neighbor Daz. Managed to lose Daz somehow during the evening but had a great time. Chunk even managed to pull this bird called Liz, who is alright to be honest, and really cheeky!! Having rocked there for two hours, Chunk, John, Liz and I headed back to the Harvey to consume more alcohol. At which point I was taken ill, heavig my guts up in the toilet. But that was just the start. Evidently it would seem the tonsilitis I had 3 months ago has come back with a vengeance. I was off sick Monday / Tuesday, made the effort to get back to work Weds / Thurs but had to come home sick today as I felt so crap. Lets hope it clears up soon.
Thursday night saw Turmoil return to the Happy Frenchman, Folkestone. Given the state of my health I approached the gig with some trepidation. In hindsight I needn'1 have worried. We pulled a good crowd with some special guest visitors too in Matt and Lara from Dayfall and Tom who is another Mr Gigger. We played a good set between 9pm-11.30pm and had em dancing and singing along. Awsome gig! So much so that we have been invited back to to play there on New Years Eve!! Now, previously we had decided not to play New Years Eve but this was too good an opportunity to turn down. It will be a good night and a chance to really capture some new fans. It makes for a good weekend too as we are playing the Mariner on the 30th December. It could be a messy weekend!!
Until those gigs, Turmoil will be in rehearsals, getting some new songs together. I have a gig on the 16th December at The Five Bells, Eastry, with my old band, Hit The Deck, which should be good. Other than that, nothing doing at the moment. There are a selection of photos from The Happy Frenchman that I will be adding on later so check them out.
In the meantime,

X November 22 Another venue conquered!!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Another weekend of frantic gigging activity. Friday night Chunk and I made our first appearance as The Goonies, playing a set at our friends party for her Son Michaels 21st. Just a an acoustic set of approx 15 songs, it went down well and we had the usual merriment of song and dance! Rather surprisingly I didnt drink a drop! Not that I didnt want to, I just knew that Saturday night would be a mad one and I wasnt sure if I could do two nights in a row, especially as I was also out Thursday night at the works Sales Awards Night. And god I was battered!!
Saturday night was a great night. We played the Firs Club, Cheriton, and had the place rocking. All the usual suspects turned up and helped make it a truly succesful night. Jules, Elaine, Brenda, Claire, Ashley, Laura, Carrie and her Mum & Sister, Jo, John and Donna to name a few. We ran a bit late in setting up so again didnt sound check. But we hit it right on the money as usual and gave a very good account of ourselves. We even threw in a new song, Good Riddance, for good measure. Nigel, the landlord, re-booked us immediately and the dates will be added to the gig list shortly.
Naturally, once the gig had finished, Chunk and I went on the obligatory party!! This time we went back to Laura and Ashley's place to get severely battered! Which we did! I could barely walk I was that gone. Laura also endeared herself to me by claiming I looked like one of the characters from The Incredibles...but to be fair she did have a point!
On the home front, Karen is now 7 months pregnant and significantly larger than me, which is nice as it takes the focus away from my portliness!! The baby is rather active and kicking the crap out of her most nights. Not sure where he gets that from. The only time I get that sort of energy is when I am on a gurner!!
Our next gig is at The Happy Frenchman on Thursday 30th November. Come and see us if you fancy it, you know you will have a party!! Until then

X November 07 It's only me!!Hello Cyberchumps!!! What a weekend that was! Great gig at the Brevet on Friday, despite the fact the recent trouble with the Rozzers had put a few off of going there. Apparantly they got heavy about having members only etc etc! Nevertheless we had a packed night, all went well and we were up all night again. By we, of course, I mean Chunk and I. That guy has an insatiable appetite for party's! When the gig finally ended we stayed at the Brevet until 2pm then went to a girl I had never met befores house. Sam was really nice. There were also some other kids there, I say kids as they were all under 20. Jason, Jacob, Lee, a girl whose number I cant remember, Chunk and some girl he was knocking off!! I got pissed and then went home. Getting too old for this me thinks!!!
Or apparantly not!! Saturday night at the Mariner was a very strange affair. On arrival at the venue we were handclapped inside by a party from Croydon who had been in the pub since 11.30am. Quite impressive as it was now 7.30pm!!! We got set up, skipped soundcheck (and still sounded fucking awsome I hasten to add) and the pub suddenly emptied!! There were probably 20 people left which was a bit strange to say the least. We played ok though and got through to half time to consider our position....and duly get drunk! As it happened the second half was a completely different affair. A few of our friends turned up and made it a realy party. Taya was back from Uni and it was also her birthday! Great night in the end. God that girl can dance! She's got all the right moves!! Oh to be 10yrs younger!! Funny thing was I thought she was out with her sister. Would appear she does not have a sister, the person in question was in fact her mum!! Sweet Jesus, extremely beautiful woman. Even funnier was I knew Taya's Dad, Vanessa's husband, Jeff!! He has been to a few of our gigs but I had never put two and two together!! Cracked me up. Anyway, after the gig, another party back at their place. Good night too. We have also secured some more gigs for next year at the Mariner. Check the gig list for the dates.
So I guess for the time being thats about it. Next gig is on the 18th November at The Firs Club, Cheriton so try and come along. Should have some more new songs in by then too. We also have a return to the Happy Frenchman on Thursday 30th November as well which we are really looking forward too.
Until the next time,

The Eclipse November 04 A quick update...Bar Brevet...Mad as Hatters. There was a party already going on when we got there so we had to clear them out of the way. Michael & Sue were on top form again, making sure we didnt go without a drink. Another good crowd too even though the recent problems with the Rozzers looked like ruining the night (they have had to introduce memberships and take fees) but all went well. Two strong sets and plenty of familiar faces. Not least of all Louis,Carrie, Alan, Jill, Keith and Dan...who wanted to show everyone his pierced knob!! What more can I add to that!!! Photos are already downloaded, including some very arty shots from Louis!!
Gig tonight at The Mariner Bar & Restaurant, Folkestone. First time we have played here so will be interesting to say the least, especially as there are plenty of fireworks displays on tonight. Should be a good one though. Check back here after the weekend for some more funny stories!!!

X X X November 02 Another weekend of glory??Hello Turmites! What a weekend this could be! I have been looking forward to this weekend for so long it hurts!! Now that I am fully recovered from my back injury we can crack on with another weekends worth of gigs. Friday 3rd November sees us returning to the Bar Brevet, Folkestone. We played their for the first time about 7 weeks ago and it was awsome. Brilliant crowd, loads of people squeezing in to what was a rather tight space!! Nevertheless it marked a couple of firsts for us...playing there for the first time, using the lights for the first time, having a female on stage for the first time (ask Chunk!!)) and, probably the most surprising of all, G doing a drum solo! None of us saw that coming but it was enjoyed by most of the testosterone consuming gayboys in the crowd. Only kidding G!! It was a quality 2 minutes of tubthumping from the best drummer in kent bar none!! Hopefully this gig will be every bit as good as the last one. So please come along and bring a friend!!
Saturday 4th November is a re-arranged gig. We were due to play at The Morehall but this has been cancelled by the venue. However we have been able to get a gig at The Mariner, Folkestone, which is great news. This is another pub we have been trying to get into. In fact we do have another gig booked in for the 30th December so this will be a good chance to test the water.
Other than that, not a lot else doing really. Met up with an old friend, who shall remain nameless. She's a great lass and someone I have a lot of time and affection for. Lost a couple of hours with her and hopefully she will be coming to one of the gigs over the weekend. Went out last Friday as a friend was leaving SAGA. Ended up in G28 with Chris, Charlotte and Jo, got battered, went to town on my own to watch Lenny. Thats when the gaps started to appear in the evening. I have no idea what was happening from that point onwards. The only thing I do know is I was very, very, very drunk!! Great night, Lenny were good too. Chunk has moved in with G (bless 'em!!), Lewie is busy at Uni and at home and I have been left holding the baby!! The missus has started working evenings now so I get some quality time to introduce Danny to football, curry, lager shandy's (hes not old enough for the real stuff yet!!) and some decent music. My only free night, Wednesday's, I have been meeting with my old band as we are doing a gig at the Five Bells, Eastry, as a favour to the landlord. Quite a departure from Turmoil as its all rock n roll, blues...definitely not rock!!
So thats it for now. Have a good weekend, hope to see you at one of the gigs,
Until then,
Take Care
The Eclipse
X X X October 24 Now lets get one thing straight.........George will never be Ringo Starr, Chunk will never be John Lennon, I will never be George Harrison and Lewie will never be Paul McCartney (although he probably could!), but there is one thing we will always be.....
!!! TURMOIL !!!
We had probably our best gig to date at The Happy Frenchman on 13th October. Massive crowd, great atmosphere, we played ok although we were still only firing on 3 cylinders. Everyone that was there said it was a good gig, we were re-booked for next year straight away too. Success all round.
Saturday 14th October, The Railway Bell. Different venue, different crowd but oh, what a chuffing awsome atmosphere! As is often the case at any Turmoil gig, we managed to attract enough of the local eccentrics to warrant one of the craziest atmospheres. It started of quite sedately but within 15-20 minutes the place was heaving and the crowd were 'avin it!! FUCKING BIG TIME!!! They were dancing, singing, shouting, rolling on the floor...even moshing!! We played as tight a set as we have played recently, certainly as good as the night before. To top it off we have The Turmites! Our band of faithful travellers that come out rain or shine and watch us. Check the photo section to see some great photos taken by our great mate Keith. This guy eats, sleeps and drinks ROCK! And when he is not doing that he is behind the lens. So this time we got one of him (other than the infamous pool shot!). And check out the fantastic shot he got of Brenda doing her Kate Bush thing! Is that woman a hottie or what??!! Once she starts doing that dancing I lose all track of what I am supposed to be playing! Bren and Kirsten were making it hard for poor old Claire who is on crutches after sustaining an ankle break after spending the night at Chunks! She fell down the stairs.....apparantly...whatever!!!!
We now have a dozen or so dates confirmed for 2007 (see the giglist) and have just had a new date confirmed on the 30th December 2006 at The Mariner, Folkestone. Most people have plans for New Years Eve but as this is the night before I expect to see you there rocking the house down! We also have some merchandising going on too so make sure you are at the next gig so you can get your freebies!!
We are currently doing nothing until the next gig courtesy of the back injury I sustained at The Frenchman. Hopefully I will be fighting fit for the gig at the Brevet Bar (3rd Nov) and The Morehall (4th Nov) which I again hope to see you at.
For now though I bid you farewell,

X X X October 14 The Jolly Frog!! Hello again Cyberfans !!
Just a very quick update. We had our first gig at the The Happy Frenchman in Folkestone last night. We had a fantastic night. The crowd were not only big but insatiable too! We softened them up with some of the more acoustic stuff (About A Girl, The Circle, Alright) before launching into the more Rock type stuff. It was all going down well.
We went prepared with close to 40 songs, which is probably twice as many as most other bands play. Unfortunately mid-way through the second set I sustained a back injury which meant we had to cut a few songs out. But, nevertheless, we did try out a few new songs (Wuthering Heights, Rear View Mirror) which went down really well. And we did 3 encores too. We eventually stopped playing after the best part of two hours, at which point I could hardly walk let alone play!!!
We must have impressed as The Happy Frenchman have asked for us to go back on Thursday 30th November. On top of that we have several dates booked there for 2007 too, roughly every 6 weeks right up to Xmas. So overall, despite my agony, we had a great night there. There were a few other bands there checking us out too so hopefully they enjoyed what they saw. The only bummer was I forgot the camera!! So no pictures of our first glorious night at The Happy Frenchman but I am sure we will get that sorted out next time around!!
Tonight we play at The Railway Bell, Folkestone and we will be trying out another couple of new songs. Watch this space for an update on how that went. Until the next time,

X October 09 Coming to a venue near you!!Hello Cyberfans.....time to catch up on all things Fatbloke & Turmoil.....
First piece of news is that Chunk and I have finally settled on a name for our duo. As of Saturday 7th October we will be know as....
!!! The Goonies !!!
It seemed a bit dumb going out as Chunk & Fatbloke so now we have a name for ourselves. All we need to do now is to sort out some more gigs! We played a set at the Thistle & Shamrock on 30th September and had a whale of a time. We are trying to sort out a date there for nearer to Xmas so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Turmoil have started to rehearse some new songs to go into the set. Some of them we have been trying to get done for ages but havent quite got round to it. We rehearsed on Saturday and managed to nail Rear View Mirror (Pearl Jam), Best of You (Foo Fighters) and also tightened up The Boys Are Back In Town (Thin Lizzy). We also have Live Forever (Oasis) pretty much ready to go and are almost there with Wuthering Heights (yes, THAT Kate Bush Song!!!). We also have 3 songs that we need to work on of our own but again its down to getting the rehearsal time. All this practice is building up to a very special gig for us. This weekend we make our long awaited debut at the Happy Frenchman, Folkestone. We have all played there in previous bands with great success but not as Turmoil. We have nearly 40 songs to gig, a great set of lights too, so it should be a good gig. Its always been about getting into the main pubs on the local circuit and we have almost completed the Grand Slam: The Harp Club (sadly now closed), The Morehall, The Harbour (date to be confirmed) and The Happy Frenchman. We also have further gigs coming up at The Firs Club, The Railway Bell, Bar Brevet and The Park Inn. So we have a lot of activity coming up on the gigs front so check the gig list for the lastest news.
We also now have the Dock Rock CD. The quality is good but the mix is not the greatest. Nevertheless it does give a good idea of us live. We should be adding some tracks to that and putting it out as a CD for you to buy. Any money made from the CD's will go towards upgrading lights, cables etx to ensure we give the very best of ourselves. We also have plenty of photos of the band now too. Some of these have been made into a frame which has a centre photo of the band at Dock Rock surrounded by individual shots of the band. If you want a copy, let us know and we will get one done for you.
On a personal level, Karen is now 23wks pregnant and we know we are having a boy, much to Danny's despair (my 4yr old) who desperately wanted a sister!! When the Radiographer told him he was going to get another brother he shouted out "i dont care, I am still calling him Amy!". Looks like we could be in for some fun then!! Karen is getting fatter as each day passes, which is nice as it deflects attention away from me!! Although she has a long way to go to rival my ridiculous hair!!
Dont forget, The Happy Frenchman this Friday (13th) and then The Railway Bell on Saturday (14th). Should be two fantastic nights of Turmoil so make sure you are there.
Until the next time,

September 09 Exploring new avenues!Hello Cyberfans. Time to get my sorry arse updating again! So whats happened in the last couple of weeks....Well, had a drama at home in the last week. Mr brother in law was taken in and rushed to hospital... i found him in the doorway at Karens parents and called the ambulance. He was in intesive care for a day but hes is now fit enough to be home. Quite scary, he could have died but, well, thank god he didnt.
Work is as stressfull as ever. Constant changes at the moment so you never know whats going on. Having been at Saga for 12yrs I have started to wonder if I need a new challenge. I'm not getting any younger and with another kid on the way I need to consider my options. Speaking of which, Karen has a scan due on the 26th September when we will find out what we are having! Think Karens keen on a girl whereas I would prefer a boy but, cliche or not, as long as its healthy then we will take that.
TURMOIL played a new venue last night (check photo section). We played at the Bar Brevet in Folkestone and it was fucking awsome! We played a well tight set and blew the crowd away! Dont think we have ever sounded so tight to be honest. Quite a few people who were there said that they remember seeing us when we first got together and we are so much better. We should be now that we have been together a year. Chunks vocals get better all the time, Lewie has gone up a gear since he got his new bass rig and even George surprised us all last night by jumping into a Drum solo completely unannounced and unrehearsed!! Legend! And as for me, well, i'm too modest to claim I am some sort of guitar legend in the making but i know one thing...the more we play together the more confidant I am getting. With the new light system we bought we are really starting to put a good show together. I love getting out there and putting on a good set for people to enjoy and, dare I say it, we are a fucking good band and we can hold our own with anyone. We might not be the most technical or flashy but you definitely get you moneys worth when you let Turmoil into your life..TRUST!!!
Needless to say, after the gig, there was much back slapping and what not and, in true Turmoil tradition, George and Lewie departed for home and Chunk and I returned to the pub to get mashed (which we did!) and then went on to a party of sorts. Several of us ie Chunk, Keith, Louis, Alan, Jan, Carrie, Ashley, Jules and Andrea went back to Alans to play strip Jenga and get mullered!! Didnt sleep all night and I am not exactly firing on all cylinders now!! Again, our ever increasing circle of friends showed as great hospitality and made sure we had a great end to a top night. Roll on the next one....
.....which is on the 14th October at The Railway Bell. We played there for the first time about a month ago and played a really strong set. There was smaller crowd than we are used to but this was due in part to a lot of the regular punters going off to the V Festival, which even we would struggle to compete with!! So next time round we should have a good crowd there. Flyers etx are already being printed up so hopefully we can generate some greater interest and ensure a good night is had by all!!!
We also did a gig for a lad called Kyle who celebrating his 18th Birthday. Not as many people turned up as he would have liked but we still put on a good show for him. Plus point of the night was the henious amount of Curry & Rice, Poppdums etx that was waiting to be devoured, which we obviously got stuck into at the earliest opportunity!!
For the time being we are going back into rehearsals to work on some new songs and also to work on some original stuff we have been writing. We have no intention of becoming an originals band but Chunks come up a couple of decent songs recently that will easily justify being included in a set. One of them, People That You Know, we play in the duo stuff we do so that will probably be the easiest to get into a band format and take out. New songs that we want to bring in are Rear View Mirror (Pearl Jam), Best Of You (Foo Fighters) Monster (The Automatic) as well as some rather odd choices that Chunk and I want to throw in, namely, Zulu Lulu (Bruce Dickinson) and Who Knew? (Pink)!! The band are also entering in to the SAGA Charity Battle of The Bands. This was effectively the first time the band played together, when performed at last years event. Its not so much winning it (which would be nice) but giving us a chance to reach out to some people that might not have heard us before and offering us a chance to expand our fanbase. Plus its a fundraiser too, which we all are keen to support if we can. In fact only a couple of weeks ago we did the Dover Dock Rock Charity Festival. Great day, good set, nice crowd, weather held out too. Did a live interview on BBC Radio Kent which quite a lot of people have said they heard. For our efforts we get back some proffesional photos taken on the day and also a CD of the live performance.
Right, enough babble for now...just seen the football results and Liverpool got dicked by Everton...not happy! At least Dover won and went top of the league!!!
Till next time Cyberfans

The Eclipse August 19 TURMOIL ON THE ROADHi there Cyber fans!! Busy couple of days for TURMOIL! On Friday 18th August we played our first gig at The Railway Bell in Folkestone. Unfortunately for us this gig coincided with V Fest and the landlord told us that quite a few of his regulars had gone to that. Nevertheless we still managed to pull a good crowd with many of the usual faces coming along to see us...so a big thankyou to Nick & Tracey (Sicknotes), Clayton and his Wife, Chris, Dan, Charlotte, Justin, Steph, Louis and friend, Ashley, Carrie, Keith, the guys from Georges squash team...and not least of all the lovely Brenda who drives me wild with her crazy dancing when she is topped up with alcohol!!!
Today we had our biggest gig to date, DOCK ROCK, which took place in Dover at Wellington Docks. Its a big event that takes place every couple of years or so. There were 11 bands on the bill today and we were second on. We had quite an early slot but there were still a couple of hundred people there to see us play, including many of our friends and family. For us the day started with a Radio interview on BBC Radio Kent which went out live...and was great fun too! That was followed by the set itself. User Friendly opened the event with a quick 15 minute set of covers and then we went on. We managed to crack off 10 up tempo high energy songs and they all seemed to go down well. We should be getting a CD of the set soon too so we will make copies available to anyone that wants them. After we finished we had a photo shoot too so we will also have some of the excitement captured on film. Speaking of which, a big thankyou has to be said to Keith. Not only does he provide us with unlimited humour due to his great hairstyle, portly physique and small cock (check the photos!) he always takes pictures of us if he is there and does us proud. Pretty much all of the photos on here have been taken by Keith....Thanks from all the band dude...you are a legend and we love ya to bits!! I am in the process of adding all the latest photos to the site. I have done the Railway Bell and will be shortly adding the Bradstow Mill and Dock Rock set too.
So, we have nothing doing for the next two weeks really. Dave and Caroline will be having their leaving do at the Thistle & Shamrock, which should be a great night. Our next gig is at The Centre Spot, which is in Dover Athletics Grounds. SO IF THE BEAUTIFUL BABE THAT CAME UP TO ME AT THE END OF THE SET AND TOOK OUR CARD AND WEBSITE DETAILS WANTS TO COME AND SEE US GAIN.....THIS IS THE PLACE!!!!
After that we dont have a gig until 14th October at The Railway Bell. In the meantime we will be rehearsing new material and sorting out some of the original material we have written and getting that gig ready.
If you are new to TURMOIL and want to hear what we sound like, check out www.audiostreet.net/turmoil for our 3 track demo, or if you want any further information just drop us a mail at t-u-r-m-o-i-l@hotmail.com and we will gladly get back to you.
Until the next time, take care Cyberfans!!

August 11 Just a quick update....Well, thought I should give you a quick update on life on the road with Turmoil. Played a couple of new venues in the last week. We played The Gate Inn, Hythe, which went ok. Wasn't as busy as we would have liked but those people that did make the effort had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We played a good first set, solid second and then played an extra half hour! Long night indeed!. Last night we played at The Bradstow Mill, Broadstairs and had a great time. Had some good support from Chris, Wendy, Natalie, Carlos, Steve and Zena which was a nice touch. Mixed the set about a bit but played a solid double set. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we made some new friends there. Will hopefully get a re-book shortly. Chris took some good photo's too (check out the photo section). Chunk got chatting to a couple of people who had heard about the band via the websites, which was encouraging.
I have decided its time to trade in my beloved PRS in favour of a Les Paul Custom. You just can't beat that Marshall/Les Paul combination and I need to have a back up in case I snap a string, like I did at The Gate! So I am saving my cash to by a new one. Will have to keep it a secret from Karen for the time being!
Although to be fair, we have just bought a new car to replace the one that was smashed up by the idiot coach driver the other week. Nothing fancy, just a Nissan Micra, but its in fantastic condition and will do us for now. Karens Parents have paid for half of it which is really nice of them so we have just had to find the rest, which isnt so bad.
TURMOIL play another new venue next week, The Railway Bell, in Folkestone and then play the Dover Dock Rock Festival the following day at Wellington Docks. So if you can, try and get down there and support all the bands that are giving their time freely to support local charities, should be a good day.
For now, I bid you farewell,
Take Care
The Eclipse July 24 Working the pounds off!!!Hello Cyberworld! No doubt you have noticed that I have not exactly been paying attention to the myspace site recently! No excuses really, just not a lot to tell! Some news to update you with for now though....
Karen and I are glad to announce that we are going to be proud parents for the 3rd time!! Baby is due in Feb 2007 (now you know why I have not been on here)!!! Had a slight scare last week as Karen, Danny and I were involved in a serious traffic accident in which our car was written off. We all came out unscathed apart from the inevitable whiplash. Car is a mess though and can't see it having any further use. In the plus side we now have a nice new courtesy car with power steering, air con, tidy interior and...er..cup holders!
My eldest Son, Ben, passed his Grammar Exams earlier this year and has been awarded a place at Dover Grammar School. Heather (his Mum) and I are very proud of him and are really excited about him starting secondary education. For the next 15/16 days Ben is going to be in Holland on a school trip. Naturally I have advised him about the red light district and drug laws.....further aided by packing him off with a pack of condoms and pot pipe in hand!!! Only kidding, I can be responsible sometimes!!
Although not this weekend just gone!! TURMOIL finally dusted off the cobwebs and have done another couple of gigs recently. We played the AVS two weeks ago. Good night as always with the Turmoil Massive doing us proud. Saturday 22nd we played The Morehall, Cheriton, for the first time. We had a great night down there with loads of people showing up throughout the evening. George, the landlord, really liked us and invited us back on November 4th so don't forget the date! The gig was followed by a pool party at Chunks Sisters house (who is conveniently on holiday in Cyprus!). Very entertaining night, didn't arrive back home until 7am having been up all night gurning like a bastard! There are some blinding photo's too, courtesy of Keith who again did us proud....oh yeah, check out the FATBLOKES FOTO's section for a nice picture of Keith and Neil in the pool at Chunks sisters....butt naked!
We have some more dates lined up at a couple of new venues too...The Gate, Hythe on 5th August plus a couple of as yet unconfirmed dates at The Railway Bell and The Park Inn, both in Folkestone. George and Chunk have been busy delivering more of the CD's to the local public establishments so we should get some more dates in soon. We have also been asked to play on the Dover Dock Rock Festival bill on 19th August which will be a great chance to advertise ourselves. I played there in 2001 with ABAS when they believe there were close to 7000 people that passed through the gate. It also gets broadcast on Radio Kent too so we could be going global before long!!!
So as you can see there is a lot going on even if I have not bee busy on here! There are some more photo's on the site from Chunks Birthday Party at the AVS and also the last couple of gigs we have done.....
Take care Cyberfans

X X X June 03 Lazy Fother MuckerHi Cyber World! Thought it was about time I updated the site with the lastest goings on.! Been a bit lazy in the last few weeks. Well not exactly lazy just too busy to spend time updating the blog!! The band have been busy rehearsing some new material to go in the set.
We already have 5 new ones: The Boys Are Back In Town (Thin Lizzy), No Tomorrow (Orson), One (U2), Killing In The Name Of (Rage Against The Machine and Youre All I Have (Snow Patrol). We are also working on the new RHCP song Dani California which we should have ready for our next gig. We also have two originals we are working on and at least one of them should be ready too.
Since my last entry we have had a couple of gigs locally at The Louis Armstrong (Turmoil), The Eagle & The AVS(Chunk & Fatbloke) plus tonight we are playing at The AVS (Turmoil). After tonight we have some time to go before our next gig, which is partially enforced. Chunk is off to the Isle of Wight Festival next weekend and the weekend after that I am off to Paris to see Robbie Williams! Stop your laughing, its for the better half really. Although at least the support is good with Bassment Jaxx and The Ordinary Boys on the bill.
I am now back on the road having purchased another bike (see my pictures!). Naturally I cant wait for a bit of consistant sunshine so I can take it out for a lengthy spin. I am planning to visit Chris & Liz in Barnstaple in a few weeks which should be nice ride.
Everythings is fine at home. Kids ok, Karen ok. Mum's trying to get her life in some sort of order now after the hell of the last couple of months. She is visiting my step sister, Wendy, in Truro this week, which will be a nice break for her.
Just finished watching the England match.....thumped Jamaica 6-0 with Peter Crouch grabbing a hatrick. Who would have bet on that eh!!! Roll on World Cup!!!
Well thats all for now chumps, will update again shortly....

The Eclipse April 22 Time for a Quickie!Hello again! Just a quick update really. Big weekend for the band. We played our first gig at The Louis Armstrong in Dover on Friday night. Tough gig, not a big crowd but the band did well and played a strong set. Definitely need to get some newer stuff into the sets though to add a bit of diversity. Tonight we play at The Harp Club in Folkestone. Our last gig there was a right stormer so it will be hard to live up to that. Very much depends on the crowd though. If you get a big crowd in there anything can happen! We did get a mention in the papers this week so maybe we will have the chance to impress some new faces!
We have hardly done any rehearsals at all since the start of the year and have been playing totally raw. Good thing is we have sounded really good. We do have some rehearsals booked in the next couple of weeks so this will give us a chance to bring in some more songs and tighten up the ones we already have.
I am getting another bike! Millard you will love this, I am getting another ER-5!! I am taking it to be MOT'd this morning and, with a bit of luck, should have it on the road within the next couple of weeks.
Nothing else to tell at the moment but do check back for the lastest gig updates and photo's.

THE ECLIPSE April 16 Another Quest for Glory!Hello Cyberpunks! Turmoil played the first of a few gigs booked at The AVS Club last night (15th April). Generally typical night for us. Our day started at Georges house at 5pm. We decided to try out a few new numbers. This time we opted for One (U2), Comfortably Numb, Another Brick In The Wall (Pink Floyd) and new one that Chunk wrote called Coming Down. Whilst the ending for Another Brick'...was a bit ropey all the others went down well, especially Coming Down. It was the first time the band had played it, and George literally did it on the fly! Good to do some original stuff. We have another one that Chunk has written, The People That You Know, that we play when we do the duo thing. I have one that I wrote ages ago that I might try and get the band to do. Will have to see what happens! Anyway, the first half was ok, nothing spectacular (on my part at least) but then I am always very critical of myself. The second set was a stormer though. Started good and got even better! Got a good reaction from the crowd, which is always nice, and had an all round good night overall. Next up is the Louis Armstrong on 21st April, followed swiftly by The Harp Club on 22nd April. No rest for the wicked!!
Outside of the band, I have been on leave for the last week. Thought now was a good time to chill out. With every thing that has gone on in the last few weeks I needed a break from work! What have I done in that time? Not a lot. Chunk and I did a gig at The Thistle & Shamrock and AVS but I generally spent time with the kids. Check out the latest addition to the photo albums.
