March 29 !! TURMOIL ROCK !!!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Time for another update on life on the road with TURMOIL. We have just come off the back of what has to have been to of our very best gigs, and that is saying a lot! Friday 23rd March we paid a visit to the Dublin Man O War, Dover for the very first time. We pulled a big crowd which included many friends and family of mine and Lewie. This was a nice touch for us as we dont often get the chance to meet our own as we play out of town so much. So a big thanks to Paula, Alan, Lewies Sister (sorry, didnt get your name!), Nobby, Jo, Mum, Rhianne, Wayne, Dave, Sarah, Darren and Bob for coming along. We seemed to go down really well and the locals were really receptive too. We also aired some new songs as well and they all got a good reception. Chunk had to dash off at the end to lube himself and George was working next day so could not hang around either. Lewie departed with the Wife so it was left to me to hold out and get mashed...so I did!!! Great night!!
Saturday 24th March we played The Mariner, Folkestone. We like playing there, usually get a good sound, and Nicky, the landlady, is really sweet. Its never easy to tell what sort of crowd you will get there, and the previous two times have been a bit hit and miss. But we were banking on there being a crowd as the England game was on. Courtesy of England being so crap there were a lot of people out drowning there sorrows, not least of all our mob. So the pub was invaded by the Turmites: Jimmy, Ange, Brenda, Jules, Elaine, Keith, Neil, Louis...loads of them! Some of them brough friends too, the place was packed to the rafters. We even had to shift tables to create a dancefloor. I had a couple of guests too, Vince, Chris (and Wife Wendy) who are from my old band. Madness ensued, with Jules and Louis po-going round the pub, it was fantastic!! I ended up shirtless at the end of the night, not a pleasant sight!!
All in all it was a top weekend. We dont have any gigs this weekend but we are out on the following weekend at The Happy Frenchman, Folkestone, on Saturday 7th April and Sports & Social Club, Aylesham on Sunday 8th. If you get the chance come along and say hi to the band. Until the next time,
Take Care
