April 12 Mange Tout!"!! Hello Cyberfans !!
I hope you are all keeping well! Our latest travels have taken us back to the Happy Frenchman and Aylesham Sports Club over the last weekend. By our own standards we thought we could have done a lot better on Saturday at The Happy Frenchman. Although everyone seemed to enjoy the night we felt collectively that our usual spark wasnt there. Admittidly, form a personal point of view at least, I was struggling with the chest infection I have had for the last few weeks. And lots of people came up and said they really enjoyed the night. But we know we can give so much more than we did. It was just one of those nights for us. We have tried a few new songs out that are still coming together and generally they wnet down really well. Nigel and Lorraine, who used to run the Firs Club Bar, came down and Nigel said he thought it was the best we have sounded. We certainly have come a long way since we played the Firs Club for the first time.
I guess he should have been in Aylesham on the Sunday! What a fucking night that was! The place was absoloutely heaving, so much so we had a tough time getting the gear in! I took the set back to basics and threw in stuff we have not played for a while too. But my god what a night. The first set was electric, with people singing along and some dancing too. It was obvious they were in the mood to party. When we got stuck into the second set, they went mental right from the start! No-one left the floor, not even in Comfortably Numb, which sounded the best we have ever played it. They could not get enough! We finished at 11.20pm and Carl asked if we would go back on and play until midnight and we didnt need asking twice. So we rolled out a few songs that we had not played and even repeated a couple we had! We finished at just after midnight and then Chunk got up and did a Levellers track for good measure! We all felt that it had probably been our best gig to date, especially considering that we're a new band out there and nobody really knows us! Carl was superb too, keeping us lubricated all night, which really helped me out with my throat!
So this week we go back to the Bar Brevet. The last gig was a bit quiet by our standards so hopefully this time we can pull more of our usual crowd. Only bummer is that John & Louis are playing down the Thistle & Shamrock so the Turmites are gonna be split between them and us! Sods law!! There are some more photos to come too, just have not had the time to add them yet. So check the photo section for all the latest and greatest shots of the band!
