June 22 Where on earth have we been!!!!! Hello Cyberfans !!
Well first I have to apologise. Its been a ridiculous amount of time since I last came on here and gave an update on what we have been up to. So where to start? Well, we have played a couple of new venues, won some new fans, learnt some new songs too! Since my last entry on the 12 April, we have done 6 gigs, playing at some our favourite venues including The Happy Frenchman and Bar Brevet. The Gig at Bar Brevet was a special night because it was Carries 30th Birthday. Can you believe that gorgeous girl is 30! It was a great night and Carrie even got up to sing Mr Brightside with us, and she was brilliant! Even Keith got in on the act, adding backing vocals to a song I cant remember now!!
We also played The Harbour Inn, Folkestone, for the first time. Was a good gig although the crowd was not as energetic as we are used to seeing! Bec and Dave came along again although they had to leave early as Bec was taken ill. We had a visit from the usual nutters: Geoff, Vanessa, Taya, John, Laura, Ashley, Laura amonst others. I had a mad moment when, in the middle of Little By Little, my strings decided to snap!! When I reahced for the other guitar the strap fell off too!!! How crap! On the plus side, a friend of Andy Clee, Chris, came along for the first half with his son George, who is 10, and had never seen a live band before. He really wants to learn to play the guitar so I am gonna give him some lessons to get him started. Looking forward to getting this budding axe slinger on his way!!
We also got asked to stand in for Groove Junction at The Star, Ashford on Friday 15th June. We have been trying to get in there for ages so it was a good opportunity to show them what we were about. Although the crowd was not the biggest we went down well and had a good night. A BIG thanks to Lara from Dayfall for putting us in touch with Deb & Richard. We did two 13 song sets and then encored with Killing In The Name Of and Dont Look Back In Anger. Most entertaining moment of the night was George getting a mighty slap round the head through the open window behind him!
Deb & Richard were impressed enough to ask us to play at the Star Charity event on 14th July. The lineup has now been confirmed as follows:
The 3rd Star Charity Event
It plans to be a great day with all the bands giving their time for free. So do come along and join in the fun and help raise money for local charities. So what else have we been up to? Well, we have a wedding in a week or so, so we have been rehearsing for that. New songs we have had to learn include Rocks (Primal Scream), I Want To Break Free (Queen), The Look (Roxette), Live It Up (Mental As Anything) and Somewhere In My Heart (Aztec Camera). We have also managed to blast through Johnny Be Good, which sounds great and hopefully Chunk will let me sing! Some of these songs will get an airing at the next gig, which is tomorrow at The Harbour Inn, Folkestone. We also have a number of songs in the pipeline that we are working on to liven the set up. We are also starting to talk about doing one or two originals. So its all quite exciting!! Check the gig dates section for all the latest dates, there will also be some new photos uploaded soon as well as the move to our own proper website!! Woo Hoo!!! Take Care See You Soon Fatbloke X
